Lagna Muhurat for Diwali Lakshmi Pujan

Most of the religious books Dharma Sindhu, Nirnaya Sindhu and Vratraj suggest Lakshmi Puja on Diwali during Pradosh time after sunset while Amavasya Tithi prevails. If Amavasya Tithi is getting over before sunset then Lakshmi Puja is done on Chaturdashi Tithi when Amavasya prevails after sunset. As most of these religious books don't mention Muhurat for Puja timings based on Vedic astrology, many astrologers provide various auspicious Puja timings for Lakshmi Puja on Diwali. Although there are various opinions on the best Muhurat for Lakshmi-Ganesha Puja on Diwali, the most astrologers agree that Lakshmi Puja should be done during fixed Lagna. The Lagna is most significant factor while considering the Muhurat for most activities. In Vedic astrology there are twelve Lagna in twenty-four hours and those are categorized as fixed, movable and common. The following four Lagna(s) are considered fixed in nature and are considered good for Lakshmi Puja.
  • Vrishchika Lagna
  • Kumbha Lagna
  • Vrishabha Lagna
  • Simha Lagna
As Goddess Lakshmi is movable and never stays at a single place for long, there are always attempts to make Her fixed or prolong Her stay at one place by worshipping Her during a fixed Lagna. It is believed that worshipping Goddess Lakshmi during fixed Lagna would make Her stable or at least prolong Her stay at one place.

As per legends, Goddess Lakshmi came out of the milky ocean on the day of Dhantrayodashi and chose Lord Vishnu as Her husband on the day of Diwali. Hence Diwali Amavasya is considered the most appropriate day to appease the Goddess of wealth and prosperity.

On the day of Amavasya during Diwali festivities, Vrishchika Lagna prevails in morning, Kumbha Lagna during afternoon, Vrishabha Lagna during evening and Simha Lagna during midnight. Hence Vrishabha Lagna is considered the most significant as it overlaps with Pradosh just after sunset. However due to some unavoidable circumstances, one is not able to perform Lakshmi Puja during Pradosh one can chose fixed Lagna Muhurat available during Amavasya.

We have given all fixed Lagna Muhurat for Diwali Puja. People can choose the most suitable Muhurat for themselves after going through below categorization of Puja timings.

Vrishchika Lagna (Scorpio) - Vrishchika Lagna prevails during early morning on Diwali. Lakshmi Puja during Vrishchika Lagna is most suitable for temples, hospitals, hotels, schools and colleges. People who are involved in public affairs, politics, various TV and film artists, show anchors, insurance agents should also worship Goddess Lakshmi during Vrishchika Lagna.

Kumbha Lagna (Aquarius) - Kumbha Lagna prevails during afternoon on Diwali. Lakshmi Puja during Kumbha Lagna is suitable for sick people, people in debt, those who want to get rid of bad influence of Lord Shani, those who are losing money in business and have accrued huge debt in business.

Vrishabha Lagna (Taurus) - Vrishabha Lagna prevails during evening on Diwali. Lakshmi Puja during Vrishabha Lagna is the most suitable time for those who stay in family, married, having kids, middle class, lower class, rural folks, farmers, salaried people and businessmen engaged in all sorts of work. This is the most significant Muhurta for Lakshmi Puja on Diwali.

Simha Lagna (Leo) - Simha Lagna prevails during mid-night on Diwali. Lakshmi Puja during Simha Lagna is the most suitable time to appease Goddess Lakshmi for hermits, saints, world renouncers and Tantrik community.

The Stages of Water Fasting

Stage 1 (Day1-2)

On the first day of fasting, the blood sugar level drops below 70mg/dl. To restore the blood to the normal glucose level, liver glycogen is converted to glucose and released into the blood. This reserve is enough for a half day. The body then reduces the basal metabolic rate (BMR). The rate of internal chemical activity in resting tissue is lowered to conserve energy. The heart slows and blood pressure is reduced. Glycogen s pulled from the muscle causing some weakness. The first wave of cleansing is usually the worst.

Headaches, dizziness, nausea, bad breath, glazed eyes and a heavily coated tongue are signs of the first stage of cleansing. Hunger can be the most intense in this period.

Stage 2 (Day 3 to 7)
Fats, composed of transformed fatty acids, are broken down to release glycerol from the gliceride molecules and are converted to glucose. The skin may become oily as rancid oils are purged from the body. People with problem-free skin may have a few days of pimples or even a boil. A pallid complexion is also a sign of waste in the blood. Ketones are formed by the incomplete oxidation of fates. It is suspected that the ketones in the blood suppress the appetite by affecting the food-satiety center in the hypothalamus called the appestat. You may feel hungry for the first few days of the fast. This effect is temporary. The desire to eat will disappear. Lack of hunger may last 40-60 days.

The body embraces the fast and the digestive system is able to take a much-needed rest, focusing all of its energies on cleansing organs and the lungs are in the process of being repaired. Periodically, the lymphatic system expels mucoid matter through the nose or throat. The volume excreted of this yellow-colored mucus can be shocking. The sinuses go through periods of being clogged, then will totally clear. The breath is still foul and the tongue coated. Within the intestine, the colon is being repaired and impacted feces on the intestinal wall start to loosen and are autolyzed.

Stage 3 (Day 8 to 15)
On the latter part of an extended fast, you can experience enhanced energy, clear-mindedness and feel better than you have felt since childhood, On the downside, old injuries may become irritated and painful. This is a result of the body’s increased ability to heal during fasting. If you had broken your arm 10 yrs before, there is scar tissue around the break. At the time of the break, the body’s ability to heal was directly related to lifestyle. If you lived on a junk food diet, the body’s natural ability to heal was diminished.

During fasting, the body’s healing process is at optimum efficiency. As the body scours for dead or damaged tissue, the lymphocytes enter the older-damaged tissue secreting substances to dissolve the damaged cells. These substances irritate the nerves in the surrounding region and cause a reoccurrence of aches from previously injured areas that may have disappeared years earlier. The pain lasts as the body is completing the healing process. The muscles may become tight and sore due to toxin irritation. The legs can be the worst affected as toxins accumulate in the legs. Cankers are common in this stage due to the excessive bacteria in the mouth.

Stage 4 (Day 16 to 30)
The body is completely adapted to the fasting process. There is more energy and clarity of mind. Cleansing periods can be short with many days of feeling good in between. There are days when the tongue is pink and the breath is fresh. The healing work of the organs is being completed. After the detoxification mechanisms have removed the causative agent or renders it harmless; the body works at maximum capacity in tissue proliferation to replace damaged tissue. While a short fast will reduce the symptoms, a longer fast can completely heal. Homeostatic balance is at optimum levels. The lymphatic system is clean except for a rare discharge of mucus through the nose or throat. After day 20, the mind is affected with heightened clarity and emotional balance. Memory and concentration improve.

Stage 5(Day 30 to ?)

(Breaking the Fast with the genuine return of Natural Hunger) Shelton. The Breath, which during all or most of the fast has been offensive, becomes sweet and clean. The Tongue becomes clean. The thick coating which remained on it throughout most of the fast vanishes. The Temperature, which may have been sub-normal or above normal, returns to exactly normal, where it remains.

The Pulse becomes normal in time and rhythm.
The Skin reactions and other reactions become normal.
The Bad Taste in the mouth ceases.
Salivary Secretion becomes normal.
The Eyes become bright and eye sight improves.
The Excreta loses its odor. The Urine becomes light.

The primary indication that the fast is to be broken is the return of hunger; all the other indications are secondary. Often one or more of these secondary signs are absent when hunger returns, but one should not refrain from breaking the fast when there is an unmistakable demand for food, merely because the tongue, for example, is not clean. Inasmuch as all the signs do not invariably appear in each case, do not hesitate to break the fast when hunger returns.

Escape from Death

How could I forget those days? Each moment I would be in the grip of a strange,gut-wrenching fear! And what more for no reason at all. There was just a strange, unexplainable apprehension that something evil was about to happen.I was even then a very successful businessman money, property,a happy family life- I had everything one could ask for. But for past one month I was steadily losing my confidence for no apparent reason and every moment I felt as if some accident was about to occur and that I was about to die.

Early from my childhood I had been initiated into worship of Lord Shiva and constantly chanting the mantra OM NAMAH SHIVAYA did calm my mind a bit. But I felt that I needed to do something more.I consulted many priests and had worships performed as suggested by them but with no great relief.

About two torturous months later I was traveling by air from Bombay to Delhi. My fear become all the more strong during this time.As I took my seat I found a middle aged gentleman seated by my side.He was dressed in the traditional white Dhoti Kurta. There was something about his face that kept drawing my attention.

At last I asked him who he was.As he gave his introduction I realized that I was before one of the greatest astrologers of recent times - Dr.Narayan Dutt Shrimali. Then of course I knew him in only this capacity. We got talking and about half an hour later I realized that the fear that had beset my mind for the past two months had somehow abated. As strange calm had overcome me.

I do not know what came over me,but the relief was so immense that I started weeping, right there in the airplane. Dr. Shrimali kindly asked me what it was and I let him know everything immediately opened his briefcase and took out a writing pad.He started writing on it and for the next few minutes remained busy with it.

Then he tore out the page and handed it over to me. He said "Dont ask me how but I know that you are an ardent devotee of Lord Shiva .Just try this Sadhana and all shall soon be fine".He also handed me a Yantra and a rosary.

Once in Delhi the first thing I did was try the sadhana he had suggested, for I felt a strange surge of faith within.A month later I had a terrible accident when I was travelling in my car from Delhi to Agra. A truck rammed into my car.The car was crushed and very miraculously I was thrown out of it and escaped unhurt. This was the danger i had been apprehending all along and Dr. Shrimali saved me from it suggesting the sadhana. Later of course I met him and came to know of his great work as a Guru to millions of Disciples. He also told me that the first time we had met he had known that an accident was about to occur and that was why he had suggested that Sadhana to me. I took Diksha from him and have since been his ardent devotee. Anyone who suffers from the fear of accidents, enemies, untimely death can try this Sadhana with amazing results.

The Sun Rises in the West

In December 1986 Param Pujya Gurudev Dr. Narayan Dutta Shrimali was invited for addressing gatherings in six places in America on “ Sun Principle and transformation of matter”. This article was written by Mr. Brevian, a famous American journalist and one of the hardest critics of India that time covering the final session of Guruji’s programme in Washington capital of the United States.

Despite the cold temperature in the month of December in America causing cold response in public gathering either political or art and dance exhibition, the news of an Indian presenting practical program on “Sun Principles” in five prominent cities of USA was verbally spreading amongst enthusiasts. It was noted that the said Indian was not after any financial gain nor had desire for fame. It was his just intention as an Vedic knower to demonstrate and introduce the art of the ancient Vedic science called Surya Vigyan or ”Sun Principal’’ for the first time in history to the Western public.

The purpose was really clear that in the modern scientific era of the 20th century, he wanted to proof that by means of tapping solar energy it would actually be possible to convert and transform one matter to another. In another words, according to him without using any form of hypnotism or magic, you can actually convert a simple piece of cotton in to a piece of hard rock.

Impossible!! Utterly Impossible!

If it were mere possible the whole world would dash into a devastating of a chaotic revolution, as people will be converting iron into gold and could in this way gain simply anything. If it would be mere possible it would actual be without doubt one of the most phenomenal scientific achievements of the current century. However in this matter it was my assigned task to be critical in the utmost matter.

After careful consideration I formed a committee of eighteen professionals whom were selected secretively. Among The eighteen professionals were including Atomic scientist, Scientist, Physician, Doctor, Meteorologist, Intelligence agent, psychologist, Investigating journalist, solar scientist, Astro-scholar, Environmentalist and Electrical energy specialist. (all names omitted to avoid inaccuracy.

The professionals I selected were simply the best experts in their fields of work and I forbid them the following things before the show started:

1. Not to utter any word to the challenger while he is performing
2. Not to show any sign of appreciation.
3. Being utmost critical at all times
4. Not to communicate with each other when challenger is performing.
5. And finally of course be at all times - observing.

The venue of the program was set at Jefferson Hall at 3 a clock, for one hour period. The venue had seating capacity of one thousand the same number of passes/tickets were distributed. But there was a gathering of more than 10 housand people for the reasons that it was Mr. Shrimali’s last broadcast out of six earlier publicized demonstrations.

Mr. Shrimali was sitting on stage and was explaining in fluently English, that the sun is the central form of seven different types of rays which can actually create all types of matters. All matters are basically made of atoms. If desired, atoms can be created as destroyed or even modified. The modification is actually linked to the transformation of one matter into another. The transformation can be permanent. (Conclusions quote:)

This knowledge known as Surya Vigyan (Indian name) can bring revolutionary changes in the medical field. As by example

* Person with weak memory can become more intelligent with the aid of this solar technology applied to certain parts of brain.
* Unnecessary growth in the body can be destroyed or terminated.
* Kidney stones can be dissolved or discharged with urine,.

As indicated, there was total silence in the hall, no clapping nor verbal appreciation no special expression on the faces.

Matter Transformation

I had collected a cubicle piece of wood and a rose flower ready. Washed and cleaned for free of chemical or visible contamination. I have requested Mr. Moore to make sure the challenger does hypnotize the audience. On top we had applied Basil waves in the hall so that hypnotism can be easily deactivated. The program was to be televised live so that people outside the hall could also observe the performance.

WE have requested Mr. Shrimali to take off the shirt and garment above waste and his dhoti will be checked with special equipment so that nothing will be attached or applied to the dhoti. He will require to wash his thoroughly before the performance and he was not supposed to move his hands below the waist or touch the dhoti. I have also mentioned to Mr. Shrimali that he will not be disclosed what material will he be given for matter transformation. He will also not be told what matter he has to transform into. He was only to be told when he is ready to perform.

On my request the Environment specialist washed Mr. Shrimali’s hands thoroughly and dried to make sure that the hands are free of any chemical agent(s).

Before that we have made Mr. Shrimali to take off his Kurta( Indian shirt) and Banyan, which have removed from the stage.Mr. Shrimali stood up at the middle of the stage. Raised his hands above his head that he was all clear and said: you can see my hands and you can see they are all empty.

(His bare torso was very attractive)

I took the piece of wood and handed it over to him and requested him to transform it into gold. After that I went off the stage and took my seat.

Mr. Shrimali raised his hands holding the piece of wood in the air and made a steady look to it.

He started to twist the wood in a special manner with fingers and we all were focusing on the piece of wood. One minutes passed, two minutes passed, and on the fourth or the fifth minute, we saw the white piece of wood turning its color into golden yellow.

I used my binocular focussed to the piece of wood and heard him say : here is the piece of gold, as you desired !!!.

Afterwards, I had Mr. Brown take a look at the gold and hold it separately for a while. Then I got up and handed over the fresh rose flower to Mr. Shrimali and asked him to transform it to iron. Now Mr. Shrimali repeats the same action as before he did with the piece of wood and in two to three minutes time the tender rose transformed into solid iron.

Then Mr. Harwin got up to the stage and went to take a look at the iron rose. The scientists also went to the stage to investigate the two transformed items. And after five minutes time they declared that he had indeed succeeded in the challenge and transformed both the items into the wanted materials.

The whole hall exploded into an appreciation and applause. The tensed faces of the eighteen members relaxed and each of them went and congratulate Mr. Shrimali. Mr. Shrimali then expresses then his thanks to all presence there. His voice was full off confidence polite and soft spookiness. Mr. Grown handed over the city key for Washington DC to Mr. Shrimali as an honor. Indeed Mr. Shrimali was the first Indian citizen whom got hold off the city key of Washington. I thought “the Sun indeed has risen in the west”.

Bitter Truth with Blessed Effects

I remember an occasion when I was traveling with my master. The station master in a town we were passing through came to me and said, “Sir, give me something to practice, and I promise I will follow it faithfully.”

My master said to me, “Give him something definite to practice.”

I said, “Why should one fool misguide another? It will be better if you instruct him.”

So my master said, “From this day on, don’t lie. Practice this rule faithfully for the next three months.”

Most of the employees of the railroad in that area were dishonest and took bribes. But this man decided that he would not take bribes or lie any more.

That very same week a supervisor from the head office came to investigate him and his assistants. The  stationmaster answered the probing questions of the supervisor honestly. This inquiry brought serious trouble to his staff. All the employees who had been taking bribes, including the stationmaster himself, were 25 prosecuted. He thought, “It has been only thirteen days, and look at the difficulty I am in. What is going to happen to me in three months’ time?”

Soon his wife and children left him. Within a month his life had crumbled like a house of cards from a single touch.

That day the stationmaster was in great agony, and we were some three hundred miles away on a bank of the Narmada River. My master was lying under a tree when he suddenly began laughing. He said, “Do you know what is happening? That man whom I instructed not to lie is in jail today.”

I asked, “Then why are you laughing?” He answered, “I am not laughing at him, I am laughing at the foolish world!”

Twelve people in that man’s office had gotten together and said he was a liar, although he had been speaking the truth. They accused him of being the only one guilty of taking bribes. He was put in jail and all the others were released.

When the stationmaster went to court the judge looked down at him from the bench and asked, “Where is your attorney?”

“I don’t need one.”

The judge said, “But I want someone to help you.”

“No,” said the stationmaster, “I don’t need an attorney; I want to speak the truth. No matter how many years you put me behind bars, I won’t lie. I used to share in bribes. Then I met a sage who told me never to lie, no matter what. My wife and children have left me, I have lost my job, I have no money or friends, and I am in jail. All these things have happened in one month. I have to examine truth for two more months no matter what happens. Sir, put me behind bars; I don’t care.”

The judge called a recess and quietly called the man to his chamber. He asked, “Who is the sage who told you this?” The man described him. Fortunately the judge was a disciple of my master. He acquitted the stationmaster and said, “You are on the right path. Stick to it. I wish I could do the same.”

After three months that man did not have anything. On the exact day that the three months were up he was sitting quietly under a tree when he received a telegram saying, “Your father had a huge plot of land that was taken long ago by the government. The government now wants to give you compensation.” They gave him one million rupees. He had not known about the land, which was in a different province.

He thought, “Today, I have completed three months of not lying and I have been rewarded so much.” He gave the compensation to his wife and children, and they happily said, “We want to come back to you.”

“No,” he said. “Until now I have only seen what happens by not lying for three months. Now I want to find out what will happen if I do not lie for the rest of my life.”

Truth is the ultimate goal of human life, and if it is practiced with mind, speech and action, the goal can be reached. Truth can be attained by practicing non-lying and by not doing those actions which are against one’s own conscience. Conscience is the best of guides.

- From book "Living with the Himalayan Masters"

If we all really want to start practicing truth ...

1. Stop taking bribes.
2. Stop producing fake travel/medical/any other bills either for tax exemption or for any other purpose. There is no end what we can save money, being content in whatever we have is the key to success in spiritual life also.

Body & Soul - IV

Your physical body is nothing but a mass of flesh, blood, bones. There is nothing great in it. And if you don't believe me then try an experiment. Just don't have bath for five days. You shall find unbearable stench has started to emanate from your body. The skin of a cow can lie for days and it shall not smell bad. But within hours of death your body shall start to rot and the neighbors shall say - Take him away and cremate his body or soon the stench shall become intolerable.

And you feel so proud of your body. You wash it with scented soaps, smear it with creams and lotions and use perfumes on it. What shall you gain from all this ?

Caring for the physical body won't get you anywhere. One needs to enter inner body.

It is not easy to enter the inner bodies. Not everyone can do it. when you don't know about it how shall you do it? It is in fact a process of transformation and when it occurs Lord Shiva shall appear, without doubt he shall. You shall then be able to see his divine form, his face, his features and all his forms. Then you shall realise how divine He is, how unique He is among all deities and why He is called not Dev but Mahadev, the Lord of all deities.

This is a process of clearing one stage of life and entering one stage of life and entering into another and there are seven such stages, for there are seven bodies. First is Deh, then Praann, then Aatma, and like this there are seven bodies and these seven bodies and these seven bodies are the seven Chakras of the Kundalini.

Pushpadant did not have this knowledge and hence it took him seventy five years to realise through his Sadhanas that the real aim of life is to enter the inner body.

And when one does so the divine unfolds before one's inner vision. And then one too, like Shankaracharya, is able to cry out in ecstasy Shivoham Shankaroham!

It would be great achievement if I could transform you from ordinary human into a superhuman and take you you to the stage of Shivoham. This is my duty and I shall surely fulfil it.

But if you do not come close to me, if you keep away from me you shall not be able to enter your inner bodies. This change is possible only through the help of two keys given to Pushpadant by Lord Shiva - devotion and service. So don't become stagnant like a pond, be like a fast moving river. Even if there are obstacles in your path don't worry about them.. Just keep flowing on.

If you think before you devote yourself it won't be true devotion. You have to lose yourself and forget about everything else.

The emperor Akbar use to sit for Namaz five times daily. Once when he was travelling it was tie for his prayers and spread a sheet by the wayside and sat down to pray. A young girl had promised her lover that she would come to meet him. And the lover had said that if she did not come by a particular hour he would leave. She was late and she ran to the rendezvous point stepping on the sheet on which Akbat sat in meditation. Akbar was infurated and when she returned a few minutes later hs accosted her and said in an angry voice - Can't you see? How dare you step on this sheet?

The girl said - I was in hurry. I had to meet someone and I did not notice the sheet..but what were you doing?
I was praying - said Akbar.
Then how did you know that I had stepped on the sheet. It means you were not meditating. Were you with God or were you looking at me ?

Devotion means forgetting about everything else. Becoming completely lost is true devotion.

There is a large crowd waiting to meet me and you say to yourself - Not today, I shall meet Gurudev tomorrow.

You cannot reach me like this. There has to be determination. Just catching hold of my feet won't get you anywhere. I am teaching you the process of losing yourself in my form. No one teaches a river how to merge into the ocean. It just rushes and loses itself in the latter's vastness. This too is an important achievement of life. Just a laughing and crying are inseparable parts of life similarly life is incomplete without this fusion. You have to lose yourself completely, only then shall you gain something worthwhile.

It is when a seed loses itself in the soil that it germinates and grows into a plant and then a tall tree. The seed is so small and it has the courage to loose itself in the soil and hence it rises up to become a huge tree in some years.

I too was a mere seed but I allowed myself to be buried in the earth. I did not worry about my parents, or wife or relatives. With determination I left everything to the Guru and decided that either I shall become a huge shady tree or I shall be lost forever, but I won't remain a mere seed. And it is the result of that determination and devotion that I am before you giving solace and peace to thousands of troubled souls.

You too can become a shady tree if you have devotion, faith and the courage to lose yourself. If you are afraid to lose your identity then you shall ever be a seed and never grow into a tree. And ultimately the seed too shall rot die without achieved anything.

The keys to this achievement are Sevatam, Samarpatvam, Sadhakatvam and Shishyatvam. that I can take you there.. I do not hesitate in declaring, for one who is total fears nothing. And I say in clear limited words, I don't need long discourses to convince you. Only empty vessels make noise and keep harping on their supposed achievements.

Sampoornnam Kumbho Na Karoti Shabdam

A full vessel shall not make a noise. It shall give you a hint and then it shall be upto you to take out the water of true knowledge from it. I have the capability to link you to the inner bodies. And the moment you are there you shall see divine light.

Lord Krishna said to Arju - Look, the entire universe is in my form. Don't look at your relatives, look at my divine form and you shall have seen everything.

This is what I am telling you that the entire universe is there inside your physical body. All places of pilgrimage, all deities are within. If you look inside you shall have the vision of Shiva. But if you look outside you shall see nothing but stone idols. And this shall happen only when you enter the inner bodies.

I wish you to go through this experience that the Guru gave to Pushpadant. The Guru had told Pushpadant that the only way to fuse into the divine is by entering the soul. And five thousands years later here is another Guru telling his disciples that he can take you on this inner journey. Only when you undertake this inner trip shall you be able to see Lord Shiva, only then shall your sixth sense be awakened and only then shall you make true spiritual progress.

And it shall also be a great moment of joy for me when you are able to have this experience. May you soon succeed in this. I bless you from the core of my heart !

Body & Soul - III

It can happen. One might start some composition and get stuck in the middle as happened with King Bhoj. One night lying in his bed he started to speak out a new verse.

Dhanam Roopatvam Preyashra Poornnatva Sukh Sevacha.
Deham Raajya Ashvam Cha Patnee Preyashra Poornnatah.
Sadam Hasti Cha Maannikyam-ham Raajaa Bhavataa Vadet.

These three lines mean - I am great king lord of a great city Ujaai, I own a large kingdom, houses, beautful queens, servants, wealth and all luxuries...And here he stopped unable to complete the forth line. He kept thinking and repeating the three lines again and again.

Just then a thief lay under his bed waiting for him to drop to sleep. If a person likes to dance he cannot keep still if some music is playing. If nothing else he would start to tap his feet. The thief was very wise. Circumstances had forced him to take stealing. He heard the king repeat the three lines again and again and at last when he could no longer restrain himself he blurted out

Sammeelane Nayanayo-rnahi Kinvidasti

He said -  You are right, O King! You are rich, you have all comforts, queens, servants, palaces but what shall happen to them when you die? What shall you be left with when you die?

This is what Lord Shiva said to Pushpadant- What shall you be left with when you die? Your wife your wealth nothing shall go with you. You shall be left with nothing for you have nothing worthwhile. You shall have something if you enter your inner body, the Sharir. You shall have something the day you shall be able to cry out hivoham Shankaroham, the day you shall be devote to the Guru. When you lose yourself in the Guru you shall be really rich. Then even death shall not be able to harm you. Then you shall become immortal and live on forever.

Right now death can come, for you are not linked to your inner body. Your physical possessions are useless, for they shall end with your death.

Lord Shiva says - If there is no medium between me and your then you shall gain nothing from offering flowers and water on my idol. There should be a Guru in between, for you shall not be able to see me with your physical eyes. Right now you cannot even recognise me.

How do you know what Lord Shiva looks like? Fine you worship his idol, but he must have some form. We keep worshipping idols and pictures. Pictures have been drawn by artistes who themselves keep chanting Om Namah Shivaay, Om Namah Shivaay and may be one day Lord Shiva manifest. But you shall think he is some Sadhu, some ascetic, for you have never seen him.

The Guru has seen Lord Shiva and he also knows you. This is why it is said - Sah Guru Sah Devataa. A Guru is necessary, for only he can introduce you to the deities. Only he can tell you that this is not an ordinary Yogi, he is Shiva.

This is why Shiva said to Pushpadant - You won't gain anything this way. You might worship me for another five thousands years and you shall have no benefit. Pushpadant understood what the Lord was saying and he went straight to a Guru and fell in his feet. To the Guru he said - I have come to you, Gurudev. Please tell me what to do so that I could fulfill all my wishes in life.

And the Guru explained the method to him, the same method that I am telling you after a gap of twenty five thousand years.

The Guru said - Forget about your physical self. Don't be infatuated with it. If you continue to do so you shall never make progress.

All relations of this world - wife, son, servants, friends are on the physical plane. You have to leave them for an hour, two hours or some time. I don't want you to leave them forever. I just want you to link yourself to the inner body for some time daily. And once you are able to do so you shall be filled with a unique joy. You shall feel as if you are becoming lost in divine ecstasy and you shall no longer be troubled by the problems around you.

Pushpadant's Guru said - Sevatvam Samrpatvam. He did not give a long discourse. He just spoke two words. He did not even give some Diksha. Rather he just gave two keys - service and devotion.

Devotion means giving up everything one has, devoting even one's body in the feet of the Guru. The Guru says to the disciple - Let me worry about your physical well being. I shall take care of you. You just stop worrying. And I shall not let you end up in a funeral ground. Only a physical body's destination is a funeral ground. But you shall no longer be in the Deh, you shall be in the Sharir. But this can happen only if you devote yourself and selflessly server the Guru. A Guru  is not selfish. He does not want to enslave the disciple, but devotion and service is the only way to this goal.

When one is carefree only then can one serve selflessly.

Sevatvam Samarpatvam Sadhakatvam ..

The first stage is of service, second of devotion, third stage is of a Sadhak and the fourth that of a disciple. Only after having been through the first three stages does a person become disciple.

Pushpadant said -  Being a disciple is fine, but I want to become lost in the divine form of Lord Shiva.

His Guru Said - For this first you have to get linked with your Sharir and hence I am giving you a Diksha through which you shall be linked to your inner body.

You might well have read about awakening of the Kundalini. But you do not know where the Kundalini is and to which place it has to be raised. Even your so called Gurus are not aware of this. And they have written books on Kundalini. I have read at least hundred of such books and they say that Kundalini is like a snake that sits coiled up at the base of spine. It rises up from here and having pierced all the Chakras reaches the Sahastrar.

You too can do this. Just pick up a few books and write one of your own. Just write something different, for example the number of coils are not three but two. And once your book is published you shall be acclaimed as a Master of Kundalini. Soon you shall have a following of disciples pleading with you to awaken their Kundalinis.

There are such Gurus and such books. Even individuals who have no knowledge have written on this subject. This is why the world of spiritualism has today become full of fraud and deceit.

Kundalini in fact is not there where you believe it to be! The Kundalini power has been clearly mentioned in the Gayatri Mantra. This Mantra can release this power and this is why it is said that Gayatri Mantra is more explosive than a nuclear bomb. But unfortunately we do not even know this Mantra fully. The ancient texts say that there are twenty four alphabets in the Gayatri Mantra. Just try counting and tell me how there are twenty four. You won't find twenty four and the texts state clearly that there are no less than twenty four. If you count you shall find only twenty three. Where is the twenty fourth? Who shall tell you the complete Mantra? If you do not have an enlightened Guru who shall give you this knowledge?

Someone told you this is the Mantra and you believed him. Basically this Mantra Savita Mantra. The texts do not mention the word Gayatri. They call it Savitaa Mantra and Savitaa means sun which is so bright and full of energy.

It is a Mantra to create an explosive energy in the body that could destroy all negative traits of an individual. The Beej Mantras contained in this Mantra are - Bhu, Bhuvah, Swah, Mahah, Janah, Tapahs and Satyam. These are actually seven inner bodies and this Mantra contains the key to entering the inner bodies. The Mantra ends with Tatsa Viturvarennyam which is actually a method of entering the inner bodies. But this method cannot be understood without the help of a Guru.

So one has to understand the power of Beej Mantras contained in the Mantra. Also one has to realise that the Mantra is not complete. Every Mantra has four parts. Every verse, every couplet has four parts. Similarly all Mantras written have four parts. But Gayatri Mantra does not have four parts.

Tatsaviturvarennyam Bhargo Devasya Dheemahi Dhiyo Yo Nah Prachodayaat.

Where is the fourth part? Who shall reveal it to you?  What is the use of chanting incomplete Mantra.

Actually all Mantras were rendered useless by the ancient Rishis to prevent their misuse. And they did this to either removing some part or adding some irrelevant part. I am telling you all this because I want you to understand some important things. For example such knowledge shall automatically develope on you when you enter the inner bodies. Then all knowledge of the universe shall become available to you. And on linking to the inner bodies all problem shall end.

Body & Soul - II

Wife, son, mother, father, relatives are all symbols of the outer form. When one dies and the other form is cremated no one accompanies one to the other world. They all cry for some time and then they return home leaving the departed soul to seek another body. When one day you have to realise that the real you is not the outer body but the soul, why don't you do it today?

We don't even have the power  to change the outer body at will. Better than us is the snake around the Lord's neck who can slip out of its skin and appear in a new young skin.

We are not aware that there is a difference between the outer and the inner forms. And till we don't realise this the Guru shall have to keep discoursing, shouting and exhorting. He has to speak because this is his job and we have to listen because we cannot avoid it. If this is how you think then my words shall produce no effect.

You have to try with devotion and faith and then you shall realise how joyful it can be. You have to just live on joyfully without worrying what is happening around you. What you think or don't think is not going to matter much. So why worry?

Your son is not earning anything, so how is your worrying going to help. You might plead with him, yet he won't go out and earn. So what is the use of worrying and fretting. You just become a witness to everything, you just enter your inner self and you shall find that all the worrying is for nothing.

Praying to Lord Shiva, Shankaracharya says - Na Taato Na Maataa, i.e. I have no mother or father, while the fact is that he had parents, he had relatives, he had friends, he even had a home.He had everything and yet he said - Na Taato Na Maataa.

It means that he wanted to be linked with the inner body where all outer relations are useless. It might happen in a moment or it might take a whole life, but the moment you enter the Sharir the outer problems shall stop worrying you. Then sorrow, pain, affliction shall not trouble you and you shall not sit with your head cradled in your hands. Then you shall not feel perturbed or face any paucity in life. You can never put an end to paucity or poverty through your efforts.

The first text that Pushpadant wrote was Mahimna Stotra and he wrote another called Shiv Stotra that too has forty verses. Each of these verses is unque and one of these is as follows.

Vidaaro Porvaayam Vati Charati Poornnamad Iv,
Shivatvam Sevyam Ya Yad Nirat Shreya Shruti Iv,
Vishaagram Mevaatvam Bhav Na Vaditaa Preyat Ivah,
Shivo Saakshaad Roopam Shiv Bhavati Saayujya Iti Cha.

It is an extraordinary verse fro a text writter by Pushpadant that was never published and never remembered by later Rishis. After Pushpadant this text completely disappeared. There is no one on the earth today who remembers even one verse from this precious work. If these rare verses are not put down on paper then they shall be lost for ever. If their essence is not imbibed in life then the rare knowledge of our Rishis shall disappear. It is very unfortunate that not one priest in India remembers a word of this amazing text.

The above verse contains the essence of life. Pushpadant Says - I have been worshipping Lord Shiva for the past seventy five years, yet I always remain in tension and worries. Is this then my fate, that is to die harassed by tensions? O Lord Shiva! I have devoted myself fully in your feet. Why is my life still full of worries? When shall I be able to attain to divine joy which the ancient texts describe as Brahmaanandam Sukham?

And as soon as Pushpadant completed this verse Lord Shiva answered - Guruvei Gatih. You don't have a Guru. Who shall then tell you why you face so many paucities even after having worshipped me for seventy five years? For the first time in your life you have realised that you have been suffering a lot and so I have appeared to answer your question. If you wish for fearlessness and joy you shall have to go the Guru. Only a Guru can tell you why you are facing problems and pain.

These verses from Shiva Stotra are not present in any text. They have simply disappeared and with them seems to have disappeared a part of our precious knowledge. Rather there appeared a very dark phase of ignorance which was dispelled by Lord Buddha. Now again after another two thousand five hundred years of darkness some Guru shall appear to lead the disciples.

I too am trying to do the same thing. But it is only after the Guru finds some empty book in form of disciple that he is able to write on it true knowledge in order to remove the darkness of ignorance. If anyone among you is ready to be a book the Guru can do much. but you shall have to be blank. Only then shall the Guru write on the pages. And I always keep looking for blank pages in form of dedicated disciples. And I shall always feel sorry that I could not find real disciples.

A real Guru never writes on paper, for paper will be destroyed one day. True knowledge is to be written on someone's heart. The Guru is ready to write but no one is ready to devote himself fully for the purpose.

Lord Shiva said to Pushpadant - a Guru, for Guruvei...Find you and only he can tell stand why you could not lose yourself in my form even after having worshiped me for seventy five years, why you could not become free from worries and why you could not attain to totality.

In the third verse Pushpadant says - I have spent all the childhood in your holy feet. I know only you and no one else.

Lord Shiva says - You wish to clap with one hand. But this is not possible. For sound to travel there should be a medium of air in between. If I call out to you there needs to be a medium which could transmit the sound. And the medium is air. Similarly there must be a medium between you and me. Without it your prayers do not reach me and neither do my thoughts reach you. This is why you are still identifying with the physical body.

And after writing the first three verses Pushpadant wrote the fourth after one and half years. He simply could not compose the fourth verse for a long time. And the fourth verse contains the essence of the whole text.

Body & Soul - I

Asit Giri Sam Syaat Kajjalam Sindhu Paatre, Surtaruvar Shaakaa Lekhini Putramoorvi.
Likhati Yadi Griheetvaa Shaardaa Sarvakaalam, Tadapi Tav Gunnaanaameesh Paara Na Yaati

Where the divine name of Lord Shiva is chanted there is laughter, joy, exuberance, totality vibrating in the air. And one who keeps laughing and smiling cannot die, for when one laughs the life energy becomes all the more vibrant, the blood gushes with a new vigour and the body trembles with joy.

If there is a living Sadguru there are bound to be real, inquisitive disciples. We are not sitting in a funeral ground. We are here to enjoy life. And it can be enjoyed through dance and music, laughter and smiles, devotion and dedication. These are the means to totality in life. One need not turn beads to attain totality in life.

The outer physical form is not your Sharir or your real body, for the Shatras have called it Deh or the physical shell. There is a difference between Deh and Sharir. Deh means that which shall die one day, that shall be destroyed. One who identifies only with the outer for has to end up in body is immortal. Sharir means an inner energy, a vibrance. Inside the outer form is another body and it is this body that brings joy, laughter and all good feelings in life. The outer body cannot generate such tender feelings. The physical body can only procreate, it can only create another Deh in the form of a child. This is the only use of the Deh(Body). Other  than this it has no creative purpose. It cannot produce laughter or a smile. The physical body ever keeps moving on the path that leads to death. But we have not taken birth to end up thus.

If you think that life ends when the body is burnt or when it dies, then know it that this not the end. Ram has not died, he lives on. And so do Krishna, Buddha, Shankaracharya and Lord Shiva. We know all about them and they live on in our hearts and even the future generations shall remember them.

We should do something so that the future generations might realise that we did something great, that we achieved something, that we were disciples of some great Guru. And all such achievements are had through the medium of a Sharir, not the Deh.

But to link with the Sahrir one must be vibrant. This is why I try to make you dance. I wish to put an end to the stagnancy in your lives. I wish to make you realise that the Deh is not everything. When you realise this my voice shall reach your conscience. Till y voice does not reach your soul, all my efforts shall go waste no matter how many times I perform Shaktipaat on you. I will give you a force and it shall just bounce back from your physical form without having any effect and thus energy transferred shall go waste. This energy is not ordinary. It is part of divine the divine, it is the force of years of Sadhana. It is a tremendous power which can make your lives vibrant. I want this energy to enter into the inner body. And inside there are other planes, other bodies, - Bhu, Bhuvah, Swah, Mahaah. But one needs great to contact them.

Today man is the most poor creature spirituality. And this is because whenever you meet a Guru your demands are frivolous. You do nothing but harass the Guru. You know only outer physique and hence your prayers are limited to - Guruji, my wife is ill or I want to promotion or I want this thing or that thing. These are demands of the outer form. And till we continue to identify with outer form problems of life shall continue to be.

But once you stop identifying with the outer form and link yourself to the inner body the problems shall fail to trouble you. There sure shall be tensions and problems but they shall no perturb you. They shall continue their onslaught no matter what you do. You may pray, you may weep, you may face them with a challenge, they shall always be there. So there is no point in worrying about them.

In the text Mahima Stotra Pushpadant say to Lord Shiva - "I feel very surprised, O Lord. You live in a funeral ground, all you posses is an empty bowl. In one hand you have trident and all you wear on your body is ash. what more a snake coils around your neck and yet you look so happy, so contented. Even we are not so happy. We too want to be happy like you."

Problems in life are never going to end, but when you become oblivious of the outer physique and start to identify with the inner body you shall ever remain immersed in joy. I am not saying that you shall stop having problems in your life. They shall surely be there but they shall not worry you. In fact man very easily becomes involved in his problems and when this happens he loses contact with the inner body and consequently with spirituality. Sadhanas or spiritual progress is not possible through the physical body. For this one needs to awaken the soul.

Lord Shiva's disciple Pushpdant wrote two texts one of which is Mahimna Stotra. If you read it you shall find that it is a unique text in which there are 40 verses. One of these is Asit Giri Sam Syaat...

It means that even if the whole earth is used instead of paper, the oceans as ink, the wood from all jungles as pens and even if the Almighty takes upon himself the task of writing, even then all the virtues of Lord Shiva cannot be listed.

And Shiva too has a family, yet he is so happy and overflowing with joy. There is no difference between Lord Shiva and you. You think there is a difference but not your soul. Shankaracharya never thought there was any difference and hence he could say -Shivoham (I am Shiva). He was not lying, for he was speaking from the depths of the soul.

If you speak from your physical form, you shall only discriminate. You shall think that you are different from the Lord who sits in the temple. And even in the temple there is a priest standing between you and the Lord. How shall you feel close to Him? Its only when you lose yourself in the form of the Lord that He shall appear before you in his real divine form.

Then you shall feel like crying - Shivoham Shankaroham. I am shiva, I am Shankar. Then if you meditate deeply the Lord shall have to come. Then you need not even go to a temple. But in order to reach this high spiritual stage one has to first learn how to enter into the inner body.

If you read this article and forget it the next day it shall of no use. If I explain to you some Sadhana and you fail to use then my effort shall go waste. Till you don't understand what I am trying to say, all this shall be of no use.

I write something and you read it without understanding then there won't be any result. Each of my words has a hidden meaning and that has to be imbibed. If I say that Lord Shiva is withing the He sure is. He is not there in some stone idol. Those who have not stopped identifying with the outer body shall never go to a temple. But you shall go there, offer water on the Lord, offer milk and flowers. You need these rituals because you are still identifying with the outer form. But the moment the link with the inner is established the outer rituals shall all become useless.

Narayan Kalp Sadhana

In the modern age there is not a single person who is not afflicted by one physical problem or the other. Today eating habits, living conditions are not proper and hence even the children are not spared from being afflicted by ailments. Event doctors fail in many cases to correctly diagnose and cure many problems. In such very cases the following Sadhana proves miraculously efficacious.

The focus of the universe is man. We cannot deny that man is most evolved among all creatures. Science and spiritualism are both directed at making more happy, comfortable and joyous. Although science has made great progress and it tries its best to make life as easy as possible, although it has provided man with amazing contraptions that are meant to ease up things in daily life, but can we say that man is really happy today? Is he perfectly healthy and really joyous? Has science been able to cure all diseases and bestow perfect health to human beings? Has it been able to free man of pain and problems of life? Has it been able to find solutions to his tensions and worries?

The answer to all this is - No !

Science cannot bring true joy. It cannot bring about complete physical transformation and make one perfectly healthy. This is possible only through spiritualism. And through years of strict Tapa the great the great Rishis and Yogis devised amazing Sadhanas through which all ailments could be banished for ever. But the unfortunate thing is that although we are able to obtain these Sadhanas easily, we do not realize their power and value.

There is not one single problem in human life. There could be more than one disease, more than one problem. In family life there are constant worries and tensions and obstacles. These hinder one's progress and due to them human life seems useless.

Till a person is not disease free and tension free he cannot be perfectly healthy. Disease does not mean only a cold or cancer or fever. Even tensions and worries are no less than ailments. Till a person is not fully robust he cannot succeed in life and attain to totality.

According to astrology there are a few planets which are very malefic and due to their evil influence one becomes seriously ill. Then a person could try his best and get the best medical help, he cannot become healthy again.

Hi might spend lakhs of Rupees he cannot buy back his lost health. In such cases all systems of medicine like Homeopathy, Allopathy and even Ayurved fail. Then one only prays for death, for the pain and sufferings becomes intolerable. The fear of death looms large over one's life due to which one is forced to lead a sad existence. And this fear forces one towards untimely death.

If a person could just find some time from his busy life and chant some powerful Mantra then due to the energy thus generated he could become healthy and disease free and leaf a happy life. But today one is always caught in the blind race of materialism and due to tensions of life one always feels unhealthy. The constant worries make a person diseased.

Today science has the cure for most of the ailments but not all. Before many diseases it has to accept defeat. It is where science fails that spiritualism comes into play. Spiritual knowledge is the basic knowledge that could make life more comfortable and happy. Spiritual knowledge means being linked to the Divine through the means of Mantras. And through Mantras anything is possible.

The physical weakness and physical deformity can destroy one's personality. Every person in this world needs divine energy in order to make his personality more attractive, more magnetic and more healthy.

Man feels very much disturbed on observing wrinkles on his face, dark circles under his eyes and his greying hair. Today everyone feelds he or she is aging prematurely. There are three phases of human life - childhood, youth and old age.

Every person has to go through these three stages. But when one sees signs of aging and growing old one panics and one starts to feel that death is near.

Is it possible to transform old age into radiant youth? Is it not possible to regain lost health? Is it not possible to be totally free of fear of death? These questions are bound to arise in the minds of all.

Everyone wishes to remain youthful forever. Everyone wishes to have the taste of true joy. Because if there is no joy, youthfulness and enthusiasm in life then it would be dull and boring.

The great Rishi and Ayurved expert, Dhanavantari, once said - One can transform old age into youth. One can make the body look youthful again through Kaya Kalp (phycial alchemy).  Through Narayan Kalp every person can become youthful and attain success in regaining lost health. This is truly the most wonderful Sadhana.

Narayan Kalp Sadhana is a process through which the old, disease ridden physique can be transformed into beautiful, attractive and youthful one. Through Mantra chanting a wonderful transformation could be brought about.

But one needs patience and devotion to make this happen. One needs full faith towards the Mantra and its powers. One needs to have a firm belief that it will work.

Through Mantra chanting in Narayan Kalp a divine resonance is produced which instils into the heart, soul and physique a rejuvenating energy.

This Mantra chanting helps form a link to the deity of the Sadhana through whose powers the person becomes disease free and his physique gets totally transformed. He becomes perfectly healthy and youthful again.

Doubts, sorrows, pain, tensions, obstacles and fears in life are the root cause of all ailments. Due to these negative forces a person starts to look old and unhealthy. Till the disease is not uprooted the person cannot become healthy. But one can become totally disease free, fearless and healthy only through Mantra chanting.

Mantra and the Sadhanas have great power. And this power has a definite effect on the heart and mind of the ailing person. Due to this the ailing individual feels charged with energy and after some time he starts to look really healthy, handsome and youthful.

It is when a person becomes totally frustrated and hopeless that he seeks the help of the Lord. He prays to the Supreme to make his life happy and comfortable. But there is always a doubt in the mind whether or not the Lord shall listen.

But this is perfectly true if a Sadhana or worship is accomplished according to the given instructions then it surely bears fruit. One very powerful Sadhana is Narayan Kalp through which the wish of getting healthy and disease free is surely fulfilled.

And once this happens the Sadhak becomes really handsome and youthful. He looks more happy and joyous than others. He becomes a completely transformed man physically.

For Sadhana one needs Narayan Yantra, Narayan Chakra & Yellow Hakeek rosary.

One can try this Sadhana on a Tuesday or on any auspicious day in morning or at night. A day before get two leaves from the Ashok tree. Wash them and place them in a sacred place. On the designated day have a bath and wear yellow clothes.

Sit on a yellow mat. Cover a wooden seat with a yellow cloth. With vermilion write Om on it. Over it place a Narayan Yantra. On the leaves draw a Swastik each, with a paste of turmeric powder.

Place the two leaves over the Yantra. Over them place Narayan Chakra. Offer yellow flowers and rice grains dyed yellow on the Yantra.

Then chant the following Mantra meditating on the form of Lord Narayana.

Udhyat Pradhyotan Shat Ruchim Tapt Hemaavadaabham,
Paarshva Dwandwajaladhi Sutayaa Vishva Dhaatryaa Cha Justham

Naanaa Tatnollasit Vividhaakalpamaa-peet Vastram
Vishnum Vande Dar Kamal-Koumadiki Chakra Paannim.

Thus chanting the above verse speak out your wish to Lord Narayan. Then with a yello Hakeek rosary chant 5 rounds of this Mantra.

Om Nam Nrinaay Kaayaakalp Poornnatva Soundarya Praaptaye Phat

Repeat this Sadhana for four cosecutive Tuesdays with the same articles but different leaves. After Sadhana tie the articles in a yellow cloth and drop the bundle in a river or pond.

Sadhana : The Right Way

Every Sadhak tries his best to accomplish daily worship and use special Mantra rituals. But every Sadhana has a particular procedure and every deity or the Guru is worshipped in a particular manner. Presenting some important rules is this wonderfully enlightening article.

In every Sadhana, Upchaar or special worship of deity has an important place. Upchaar eans devotedly making some offerings to deity in order to win his or her grace.

There is no fixed rule for Upchaar but including this worship procedure in Sadhana assures quicker success. There are different types of Upchaars ranging from Ekopchaar to Sahastropachar. Our article shall focus only on Shodashopchaar, Dashopchaar and Panchopchaar forms of worship in which 16,10 and 5 articles are offered respectively. In each age, forms of worship have been different but in the present age of hustle and bustle performing a Sadhana itself is a great fortunate achievement and the shorter the procedure the better.

It is best to do Shodashopchaar worship in which 16 articles are offered but in daily Sadhana Panchopchaar worship would suffice and in it five articles namely fragrance, flowers, incense, ghee lamp and sweets are offered.

Shodashopchaar
This includes 1. Aavaahan 2. Aasan 3. Paadya 4. Arghya 5. Aachamaniya 6. Snaan 7. Vastra 8. Madhupark 9. Tilak 10. Akshat 11. Pushp 12. Dhoop 13. Deep 14. Neivedya 15. Taambool 16. Naariyal

Aavaahan
Many do not count this in the procedure and instead just offer prayers to the deity. It means inviting the deity concerned to come and bless Sadhak. For this hands are joined and the following Mantra is chanted.

Aavaahayaami Devesh Sarvashakti Shakti Samanvite, Naaraaynnaay Bhadraay Gururoopaayate Namah. Guru Brhama Gur Vishnuh Gurudevo Maheshwarah. Guru Saakshaat Parabrahma Tasmei Shree Gurave Naah.

Aasan
A worship mat is used in order to ake the physical body free of ailments, the soul pure and gain divine powers. Basically a mat acts as a bad conductor and does not allow energy of Mantra chanting fro being earthed. Torn, burnt and used mats are prohibited. Deer skin, tiger skin, grass, silk, cotton and wood mats are best. Deer skin for gain of knowldge, tiger skin for spiritual progress and wealth and wool for riddance from sorrows and poverty are prescribed. Deities are offered a mat of flowers and then the following Mantra is chanted.

Ramyam Shubhanam Divyam Sarva Soukhakaram Shubham. Aasanam Cha Mayaa Grihaann Parameshwar.

Paadya
Offering water in the feet of deity is called Paadya. For this two spoonfuls of water is offered chanting thus.

Yad Bhakti Lesh Samparkat Paramaanand Sambhavah, Tasmei Te Parameshaan Paadya Shuddhaay Kalpaye Arghya

Water offered to deities for washing their hands is called Arghya. Mix flowers and fragrance in water in a tumbler. Offer chanting thus.

Arghyam Grihaann Devesh Gandh Pushpaakshateih Sah. Karunnaam Kuru Me Dev! Grihaannarghya Namastu Te.

Aachamaniya
Water offered to deity for rinsing the mouth is called Aachamaniya. Offer water chanting -

Sarva Teerth Samaaneetaam Sugandhim Nirmalam Jalam. Aachamyataam Mayaadattam Grihaann Parameshwar.

Snaan
All  deities are present in the ocean of knowledge, still three spoonfuls of water is offered as mark of respect for a bath.

Gangaa Saraswatee Revaa Payoshanni Narmadaajaleih. Snaapitosi Mayaa Dev Tathaa Shaantim Kurushnna Me

Vastra
Clean & new clothes are offered. Offering old, torn clothes leads to losses. Mouli (holy red thread) can be offered instead chanting thus.

Sarva Bhooshaadi Ke Soumye Lok Lajjaanivaaranne. Mayopapaadite Tubhyam Grihaan. Parameshwar.

Tilak
For riddance from sins, afflictions and misfortune a mark is made on the forehead of the deity. Sandalwood paste is best otherwise Ashtagandh, Gorochan, samphor, saffron and musk can also be used. Mantra -

Shree Khaad Chandanam Divyam Gandhaaddyam Sumanoharam. Vilepanam Sursheshtth Chadanam Pratigrihyaataam.

Akshat
Akshat means unbroken rice grains which are offered to gain wealth and prosperity. Mix with vermilion and offer them chanting thus.

Akshataashcha Surshreshtth Kumkumaaktaah Sushobhitaah. Maayaa Niveditaa Bhaktyaa Grihaann Parameshwar.

Pushp
Offer flowers to the deity for comforts, good luck and health chanting thus

Maalyaadeeni Sugandheeni Maalatyaadeeni Veiprabho. Mayopaneetaani Pushpaanni Grihaann Paraeshwar.

Dhoop
Offer incense made from choicest and most fragrant herbs to the deity chanting thus.

Vaaspati Rasobhootah Gandhaadyah Sumanoharah. Aaghreyah Sarvasevaanaam Dhoopoyam Pratigrihayataam.

Deep
Lighting a lamp before a deity signifies dispelling of darkness of ignorance from the Sadhak's life. Mantra-

Suprakaasho Mahaadeepah Sarvatah Timiraapahaah. Sa Baahyaamyaram Jyotih Deepoyam Pratigrihyataam.

Neivedya
Neivedya means elixir. While offering sweets or food articles chant thus.

Neivedyam Grihyataam Dev Bhaktim Me Hychalaam Kuru. Eepsitam Me Varam Dehi, Sarvasoubhaagya Kaarakam.

Taambool
Offer a betel nut containing betel nuts, cloves and cardamom. A betel leaf is symbolic of the six-teen Kalas or divine virtues. Mantra-

Poongifalam Mahad Divyam Naagvalee-rdaleirutam. Elaadi Choornna Sanyuktam Taamboolam Pratigrihyataam.

Neeranjan Aarati
Sing the Aarti (special hymn) of the diety whom you are worshipping. For Aarti use a lamp with one or five wicks. Mantra

Aanand Mantra Makaraandam Anant Gandh Yogineedndraa Susthir Malindam Apaastabandham Vedaant Karannek Vikaash-sheelam Naaraaynnasya Charannambuj.

With this the worship is over. If one is not able to do Shodashopchaar worship one should do Panchopachaar worship while chanting the Mantra with full devotion.

One should daily offer prayers to one's deity and Guru.

Faith & God

An atheist Professor of philosophy speaks to his class on the problem science has with God, The Almighty.
He asks one of his new Students to stand and.....

Prof: So you believe in God?
Student: Absolutely, sir.

Prof : Is God good?
Student: Sure.

Prof: Is God all-powerful?
Student : Yes.

Prof: My brother died of cancer even though he prayed to God to heal him. Most of us would attempt to help others who are ill. But God didn't. How is this God good then? Hmm? (Student is silent.)

Prof: You can't answer, can you? Let's start again, young fella. Is God good?
Student: Yes.

Prof: Is Satan good?
Student : No.

Prof: Where does Satan come from?
Student: From...God....

Prof: That's right. Tell me son, is there evil in this world?
Student: Yes.

Prof: Evil is everywhere, isn't it? And God did make everything. Correct?
Student: Yes.

Prof: So who created evil?
(Student does not answer.)

Prof: Is there sickness? Immorality? Hatred? Ugliness? All these terrible things exist in the world, don't they?
Student: Yes, sir.

Prof: So, who created them?
(Student has no answer.)
Prof: Science says you have 5 senses you use to identify and observe the world around you.
Tell me, son...Have you ever seen God?
Student: No, sir.

Prof: Tell us if you have ever heard your God?
Student: No, sir.

Prof: Have you ever felt your God, tasted your God, smelt your God? Have you ever had any sensory perception of God for that matter?
Student: No, sir. I'm afraid I haven't.

Prof: Yet you still believe in Him?
Student: Yes.

Prof: According to empirical, testable, demonstrable protocol, science says your GOD doesn't exist.
What do you say to that, son?
Student: Nothing. I only have my faith.

Prof: Yes. Faith. And that is the problem science has.

Student: Professor, is there such a thing as heat?
Prof: Yes.

Student: And is there such a thing as cold?
Prof: Yes.

Student: No sir. There isn't.
(The lecture theatre becomes very quiet with this turn of events.)
Student : Sir, you can have lots of heat, even more heat, superheat, mega heat, white heat, a little heat or no heat.
But we don't have anything called cold. We can hit 458 degrees below zero which is no heat, but we can't go any further after that.
There is no such thing as cold . Cold is only a word we use to describe the absence of heat . We cannot measure cold. Heat is energy . Cold is not the opposite of heat, sir, just the absence of it . (There is pin-drop silence in the lecture theatre.)

Student: What about darkness, Professor? Is there such a thing as darkness?
Prof: Yes. What is night if there isn't darkness?

Student : You're wrong again, sir. Darkness is the absence of something. You can have low light, normal light, bright
light, flashing light....But if you have no light constantly, you have nothing and it's called darkness, isn't it? In reality, darkness isn't. If it were you would be able to make
darkness darker, wouldn't you?
Prof: So what is the point you are making, young man?

Student: Sir, my point is your philosophical premise is flawed.
Prof: Flawed? Can you explain how?

Student: Sir, you are working on the premise of duality. You argue there is life and then there is death, a good God and a bad God. You are viewing the concept of God as something finite, something we can measure. Sir, science can't even explain a thought. It uses electricity and magnetism, but has never seen, much less fully understood either one.To view death as the opposite of life is to be ignorant of the fact that death cannot exist as a substantive thing. Death is not the opposite of life: just the absence of it.
Now tell me, Professor. Do you teach your Students that they evolved from a monkey?

Prof: If you are referring to the natural evolutionary process, yes, of course, I do.
Student: Have you ever observed evolution with your own eyes, sir?
(The Professor shakes his head with a smile, beginning to realize where the argument is going.)

Student: Since no one has ever observed the process of evolution at work and cannot even prove that this process is an on-going endeavor, are you not teaching your opinion, sir? Are you not a scientist but a preacher? (The class is in uproar.)

Student: Is there anyone in the class who has ever seen the Professor's brain?
(The class breaks out into laughter.)
Student : Is there anyone here who has ever heard the Professor's brain, felt it, touched or smelt it? No one appears to have done so. So, according to the established rules of empirical, stable, demonstrable protocol, science says that you have no brain, sir.
With all due respect, sir, how do we then trust your lectures, sir?
(The room is silent. The Professor stares at the Student, his face unfathomable.)

Prof: I guess you'll have to take them on faith, son.
Student: That is it sir.... The link between man & god is FAITH . That is all that keeps things moving & alive.

The Eight Divine Powers

Anima
A person who succeeds in identifying his physical form with that of the Lord gains Anima Siddhi. All matter in this universe is made of atoms. The soul within the human body is made of very highly vibrating energy and hence it remains invisible. It is only through insight that the soul can be identified. And the Supreme too is nothing but this energy. Hence when the mind concentrates on the Supreme a person gains Anima Siddhi or the power to make one's body smaller than an atom.

Mahima
When a person is able to concentrate all his thoughts on the Supreme he gains this power through which the physical body can be made huge as a mountain. For gaining this power one must contemplate on the form of the Lord that is made of the five elements.Thoughts are said to be the first manifestation even before matter existed. Vedas call thoughts Hiranyagarbh and the Purans call them Brahm. Concentrating the thoughts helps one gain the power of Mahima. In the battle of Kurukshetra Lord Krishan had manifested his Viraat or universe form before Arjun and he had used this very power in the process.

Laghima
In it too one contemplate on the five elements that constitute all matter. Through this power a Yogi can assume any form. The gods and goddesses of the Hindus are said to possess such powers. In our country even rivers, mountains and places are worshiped  as deities. Thus the Himalayas, the rivers like Ganga and Yamuna are all deities who have assumed such forms due to all deities who have assumed such forms due their divine powers. They can any time manifest in human or their divine forms. On gaining this power an individual can assume any form. He can become omnipresent like the air, he can be at any place in a trice and he can even become invisible. Or if he so wishes he can assume a number of forms at the same time. Lord Krishna use this very power when he danced in a different form with every Gopi(maiden).

Praapti
This power is related to the senses. The ancient texts have focused a lot on the Sadhanas through which this power can be gained. When all the senses are concentrated and their energy is directed towards the Supreme then one gains this power. Through this accomplishment a person can transport any object placed anywhere in the universe to where he wants to be. This power is different from Pret Sadhana in which a spirit's help is sought for this purpose and Surya Siddhant in which one object can be transported into another using the rays of the sun. In the year 1987, Poojyapaad Sadgurudev Dr. Naryan Dutt Shrimali had left those present amazed when he produced out of thin air the dairy of a visiting disciple which he had mistakenly left behind home in London. When a Yogi uses this power he does it through his astral body which can travel millions of miles in less than a second while the physical body stays put and he can thus transfer objects from one place to another. In other words through his power even impossible looking tasks can be easily accomplished.

Prakaataya
Through this power one can view any world and plane of existence when one so wishes. To gain this power all one's thoughts are to be concentrated. And when this happens then one can be easily have glimpse of the Supreme.Swami Vivekananda noticed that his Guru Ramakrishna Paramhans had such power. Even a new Sadhak can have the experience of visualising the forms of deities in a state of deep trance. When one enters into meditation all gods, goddesses and etheral being like Yakshas, Kinnars and Gandharvas start to manifest. One can then see them and one can even see great Yogis who live on a different plane. This in fact is the way of having a glimpse of  of the Supreme and all deities.

Eeshitaa
Through this power one can control the Maya energy. One then gains the power to create and destroy at will. One has to contemplate on the form of Lord Vishnu in order to gain any form. A Yogi with this power can gain any form. In the form of a god he can visit heaven or in the form of a Yaksha he can travel to any place in the universe or in the form of a human he can live on earth.

Vashita
When one gains this power one becomes free of infatuation and one rather starts to love all creatures due to which all become captivated by one's presence. For this one has to enter into a trance and meditate on the form of Lord Narayan. In the state of trance the person is raised to the highest level of consciousness. In such a state not just the living creatures rather even the non living world comes under one's control. Even a lion turns into a tame cat in the presence of such a Yogi. If the person so wills he can even move a mountain through his thoughts. By just looking at objects a Yogi can move inanimate objects. Many aghoris have such power with the help of which they can rule over the nature. They can even change seasons, for at their command the clouds start to rain.

Prakaamya
One has to worship the formless Brahm for gaining this power. Through it all one's wishes are fulfilled and no wish is then left. Then one attains moksha or freedom fro the continuous cycle of birth and death. Till there are unfulfilled wishes a person has to keep taking birth. But as soon as all wishes are fulfilled the cycle of birth and death stops and one becomes free.
